Through Drivers Benefits, the Black Car Fund is helping car and rideshare drivers protect their income if they are hurt off-the-job or diagnosed with critical illness prevents them from working. As enrollment is a prerequisite for accessing this critical coverage, the Drivers Benefits PSAs aim to promote awareness to facilitate the enrollment of as many eligible individuals as possible.
The Black Car Fund is a not-for-profit organization created by New York State in 1999 to protect New York’s eligible Black Car and Rideshare drivers and to make every ride a safe ride. The Black Car Fund collects a small extra surcharge (3%) from passengers on every eligible ride, which goes towards providing workers’ compensation, death benefits, and health and wellness Drivers Benefits at no cost to eligible and enrolled drivers.
