Safe Horizon knows that victims of domestic violence often need much more than a safe haven and they work with them to stay safe at all stages. From support groups and counseling to an extensive referral network for jobs, training, child care, and more, Safe Horizon ensures that victims find the help they need. Safe Horizon’s confidential shelter locations across the five boroughs are spaces that give families the chance to recover in privacy and with dignity.
Every year Safe Horizon helps a quarter of a million children, teens, and adults experiencing domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, exploitation, and other forms of violence. Safe Horizon offers immediate and practical support like a hot meal, someone to talk to, and lock replacement as well as deep, ongoing services such as mental health counseling, help finding a place to live and to work, and assistance navigating oppressive and often racist systems. In addition, Safe Horizon engages in advocacy work to ensure that all survivors have the access to justice and healing they deserve.
